Breu Branco essential oil is the only Amazonian oil in the dōTERRA range. It is distilled from the fragrant resin produced by the trunk of Protium heptaphyllum, a tree that can reach thirty metres: the resin hardens on the bark into white, almost mineral blocks, harvested without felling the tree.

Rich in p-cymene, it gives off a fresh, cheerful, woody aroma. Diffused, it freshens the home or office through the day and promotes an atmosphere of clarity and harmony; three to four drops mixed with a carrier oil make for a comforting, invigorating massage. Its botanical family, the Burseraceae, is also that of frankincense and palo santo, which you can hear in its resinous note. “Breu” is Portuguese for pitch, the hardened resin once used to caulk boats. That of Protium heptaphyllum sets into milky white blocks on the trunk, hence its name breu branco, white pitch.
