Myrrh essential oil is the other great resin of the dōTERRA range, alongside Frankincense, for those who love warm, deep scents. It is distilled from the amber resin of a small, thorny tree from Somaliland, which harvesters release by making incisions in the wood, and its scent is warm, woody and slightly sweet.

It is first and foremost an oil for the skin, which it soothes, cleanses and improves the look of: one or two drops in your moisturiser or evening cleanser are enough, and dōTERRA placed it at the heart of its Salubelle blend. It also supports oral hygiene, with one drop on your toothpaste or diluted in a glass of water to rinse your mouth. In the diffuser, its balancing aroma promotes serenity and a good mood.

In antiquity, myrrh was sometimes worth its weight in gold. It was used to make perfumes and incense, to accompany meditation and for embalming.

Uses

  • Cosmetic

    Add one or two drops to your moisturiser or facial cleanser for smoother, younger-looking skin.

    Add one drop to your toothpaste for a more thorough clean.

    Dilute one drop in a glass of water and rinse your mouth, without swallowing.

    Put one or two drops in an empty roller bottle and top up with fractionated coconut oil, for easy application to the skin.

    Diluted in a carrier oil, use it in massage, or in a warm bath with Roman Chamomile for a moment of relaxation.

  • Everyday

    Add three to four drops to the diffuser before bedtime for a soothing, balancing atmosphere.

    Diffuse it during the day to promote alertness and a good mood.

    Mix a few drops with water in a spray bottle to clean surfaces.
