Madagascar Vanilla dōTERRA Essential Oil Blend | 5 ml

Among dōTERRA essential oils, Madagascar Vanilla stands apart: it is an absolute of Vanilla planifolia combined with fractionated coconut oil. The plant is a climbing orchid with yellow and white flowers: it is the flowers that smell, while the pods are odourless when picked. Each flower is pollinated by hand, the vine takes three to four years before it produces, and the pods need a long curing before the aroma emerges.

The pods are then ground and put through a two-stage extraction that draws out the absolute. Its aroma is rich, warm and alluring, and the coconut oil that carries it moisturises and softens the skin. Wear it as a personal fragrance, for special occasions as for every day, add it to your body moisturiser or to a shampoo, or pour a few drops into a warm bath.

It is one of the most sought-after aromas in the world, and one of the most labour-intensive to produce: everything here is still done by hand.

Les gousses ne sentent rien à la récolte : c'est un long échaudage suivi de mois de séchage qui fait naître la vanilline. Trop fragile pour la distillation, la vanille passe par extraction, d'où le terme d'absolue. Elle adoucit et prolonge tous les autres ingrédients.
