Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil is the lemon-scented eucalyptus of the dōTERRA range, for anyone who finds classic Eucalyptus too camphoraceous. Distilled from the leaves of a tall gum tree native to northern Australia, it owes to citronellal and citronellol a fresh, distinctly lemony scent.

These two compounds make it first and foremost a cleansing oil: one or two drops in your usual cleanser promote healthy-looking skin, a drop in your shampoo leaves a deep-clean feeling, and ten drops in water clean worktops and sinks. Its aroma is as bright as it is uplifting: in the diffuser, it creates a positive atmosphere; a drop rubbed between the palms starts the day, and diluted in a carrier oil, it makes a massage both soothing and invigorating.

A gentler eucalyptus, for the bathroom as much as the kitchen.

Interesting fact

In 1995, botanists moved lemon eucalyptus out of the genus Eucalyptus into a neighbouring genus, Corymbia; the trade kept the old name. In Kenya, the tree is cut down to ground level every year to harvest the leaves, and regrows from its stump.
